Guide To Women’s Snowboarding Boots

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Snowboarding is a sport inspired by surfing, which implies you only have the snowboard to slide on and no other items to help you to slide or stop as in skiing.

Therefore, your grip on the snowboard must be secure and firm and the only way you can do that is through professional snowboarding boots.

The Main Requirements For Women’s Snowboarding Boots

There are many companies that make today snowboarding boots, which are specially designed for the same carrying all the features you need in order to made your experience safe and fun. However, while some boots may have everything and more than you want some may miss one or more important features that can ruin your fun or even put you at risk.

Women’s snowboarding boots must have a goop non-slip grip so you get the snowboard move as you want. While the boots must be light, they should be warm and water repellant in order to keep your feet dry.

Some women’s snowboarding boots are short covering just the ankle while others are longer all the way up on your calf; they both are suitable for snowboarding but some find that a tight hold on the ankle may obstruct your ability to move and direct your snowboard with ease. This opinion however differs from person to person and I suggest trying and seeing what fits and suits you best.

Specific women’s snowboarding boots will have roomy toe area due to the fact that you need to be able to move them in order to hold a grip on the snowboard. Lace-up system is usually very convenient as you can tie the boots as tight as you are comfortable rather than have a system that can be too tight or too loose.

Helpful Tip

In order to get the perfect women’s snowboarding boots try only specialized stores for the same, which carry only those designs that are close to your requirements. While not all boots that are suitable for snowboarding are not designed with snowboarding in mind others are and generally snowboard/ski stores will carry both so you can have a few to choose from.

When looking for women’s snowboarding boots I would go with practical and professional and definitely not the looks; this is a common mistake women make by choosing looks over the not so good looking but professional boots. Professional snowboarding boots will provide you comfort and support when needed most.

Getting Into The Game: An Introduction To Paintball

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Paintball is a highly active and addictive sport that many individuals are becoming more and more involved with. Unlike many other sports where being tall as an oak or strong as an ox gives you a huge advantage, in paintball the playing field is much more evenly spread.

While the most common courses are outside, there are also inside paintball courses, as well. In a game of paintball, there are almost always two teams that are evenly divided. Each player gets a paint gun and then the two teams play-often the old childhood game of capture the flag is a perfect scenario for a game of paintball.

The game of paintball itself is simple. Your team needs to guard your flag while trying to capture your opponent’s flag. Instead of tagging each other, you shoot with the paintball guns. If you are hit with a paintball and it breaks, then you are eliminated. There will be referees to call you as at or still in. The paintball does have to splat. If it hits you and doesn’t break for whatever reason, you’re still in the game. The paintballs are approximately marble sized with a hard shell on the outside and soft paint in the middle (think of how M&Ms are advertised). The outside shell allows the paint to travel much longer distances, which allows for a much more enjoyable and challenging game. Most players will get hit a few times in a day. While there is a slight sting that might cause a minor red mark, the paint balls really do not hurt and are far, FAR safer and less painful than getting hit by a bb or pellet gun. Paintball gives the excitement of a combat game without any of the danger.

In paintball there are some mistakes that beginners commonly make, which is nothing to be ashamed of, but here are some tips to help out. The first rule, the golden rule, in fact, of paintball is this: NEVER take off your protective mask. The only danger from a paintball game is if you take off your goggles and get shot in the eye. Never remove your facial protection unless you are off the field in a specifically designated area.

Beyond that obvious safety tip, here are several helpful tips that you should know before you go to a paintball game for the first time:

Wear darker clothes, don’t wear white. White is too bright, you will get killed.

Wear some type of comfortable footwear. Preferably boot or comfortable shoes, something that you don’t mind wearing in the woods.

Good sportsmanship: always be honest. If you get splat and the ref doesn’t see, raise your hand for all to see and walk off. This is a sport where players are very open to newbies, but also very competitive: and they don’t like cheaters.

Avoid tunnel vision. It is so easy to get focused on what’s straight ahead that many beginning players get shot from the side without even realizing they’re getting flanked.

Paintball is a great sport, and highly addictive. Learn the basics, and then go out and enjoy yourself. That’s the most important aspect of a paintball game!

Get The Right Paintball Gear To Win

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Paintball is a sport that’s taken the country by storm, with over a million players participating in the exciting, action packed game of player elimination.

If you or anyone you know wants to play the game, there are several things to consider, and that includes the issue of paintball gear. While the main component of the game is a paintball ‘gun’ or ‘marker’, paintball gear may also include headgear, special clothing and accessories for both participant and their equipment.

Paintball gear will most likely be determined by player skill. Beginners often make due with basic rented equipment and old clothes and a pair of goggles. For those who really get into the game, paintball gear and equipment becomes serious business that involves purchasing equipment and accessories that may cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. In addition to the paintball gear that’s considered basic, such as paintball markers and pressure systems for propelling paintballs to their intended targets, paintball gear also includes protective headgear, goggles, gloves, and protective vests and pads. Depending on whether game play is causal or tournament, the amount of protective gear is solely up to the discretion of each individual player. Keep in mind, however, that it’s not dangerous to play the sport, and paintballs don’t exceed certain speed velocity, that while painful when hit, are nothing to cause alarm. The exception is if a person is hit in the eye or ear with a paintball, which is why protective headgear and goggles are a requirement to play. Paintball gear masks are designed to withstand a direct hit by a paintball that travels over 300 feet per second.

The paintball ‘gun’ or marker, requires a loader or hopper, in addition to some kind of propellant to work. Most paintball gear guns or markers work on compressed carbon dioxide (C02) or high-pressure air tanks that are worn in a back harness. Several different kinds of paintball gear guns or markers are available depending on skill level. A Rec-Ball player marker like the Tippmann 98 Custom costs around $140 and is good for beginners. For Scenario players, try something like the Tippmann A-5. This model will cost about $200, and for Tournament play, many participants choose the marker that best suits the field position they usually play, which may include, front, mid or rear positioning. Front players like to use a marker that allows for mounting of an air supply bottle that can also serve as a ‘gun’ stock. Middle field players shoot hundreds of rounds, so a high-pressure air system is best. For those who play rear field positions, paint streamers are popular, so a dye marker is your best bet.

No matter what your skill level or what your field position is, paintball gear is available to suit your needs. Shop around and compare prices and always make sure you know what you need before you start shopping. Good buys can be found, so take your time. Finding the correct paintball gear isn’t difficult if you know what you’re looking for.

How To Build A Rock Climbing Wall

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Have you ever thought of a new way to workout, if not, then here is one good suggestion: Try to build a rock-climbing wall and train yourself! Most of the climbers use their home rock-climbing walls to improve their physical strength.

Your home walls can help you keep fit and you can climb as many times as you require, as a part of your workout.

Here are the four steps to help you build a rock-climbing wall:

First step

It is very important to plan properly and carefully. First, list the requirements:
. What are you looking forward to from the rock-climbing wall?
. Where would the wall be, inside or outside?
. What should the wall look like?
. What shapes and sizes could you work on?

Prepare a sketch of the wall you wish to build and figure out an estimate to know how much you need to spend on it.

Second step

Once you start designing your wall, you will get an exact idea about the actual cost and the type of material required to build the wall. You will also understand the technical aspects, like where to place the cut angles, joints and the remaining features of the wall. You need to be aware about other difficulties like technical issues that may occur while building the wall. In case you decide to build the wall outside, you should know the environmental factors like rain or snow that can affect the wall. In order to prevent the wall from these elements, you can make use of marine board.

Third step

When you start building you home rock-climbing wall, you will gradually come begin enjoying this process. It really is fun to build the rock-climbing wall within the home premises and that too, on your own.

Fourth Step

You need to give the wall a nice finish and this is as important as the initiation of the venture. For this, you need to choose a good quality paint and color. Now the fall-zone comes in, where you have to decide on what kind of padding you like to choose. You can either choose simple wood chips that are smooth and natural or you could go in for gym pads.

Once the wall is ready, you need to place holds on your wall. The bolts may easily get rusted if the wall is built outside. You dont need to give much thought, if you are really not bothered about rearranging the holds frequently. The holds are not so expensive if you can get them from your local wall climbing gym. Most gyms sell their old holds cheap, when they want to replace them. The shop owners who want to get rid of older stock also sell the same at a low cost.

As soon as the wall is built, you will be eager to climb it. As you climb the wall everyday you will get used to it and it wont be so difficult, after some time. Later, you may get bored of the same routine and so, in order to maintain interest, you need to search for new routes and bring in few changes in the wall.

Guide To Acquiring The Perfect Snowboard For You

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Snowboarding originates from surfing where the practice is the same but on water. Most of the snowboarding rules are similar to those of surfing and that applies to choosing the right snowboard for you in order to enjoy this sport.

How To Choose A Snowboard

There are many styles of snowboards and sizes. If you are a beginner, my suggestion is to choose a shorter snowboard until you master your skills in order to be able to command a longer one.

The right length of a snowboard for you is decided by your height and weight; the right one for you would be reaching anywhere between your chest to your nose when measured against you. The weight plays its part as well in helping you choose the right board for you, for example, the heavier you are the longer the snowboard should measure.

Adult snowboards measure anywhere from 130 to 160 cm and those made for children are anywhere between 110 to 140 cm. Experienced snowboarders will usually choose longer snowboards in order to increase their speed on the slopes.

The width is yet another very important part that needs to be taken in consideration when choosing your snowboard; you should ensure that you toes and heels are not hanging out of the side of the board as that will make you loose control of the board when snowboarding.

The material of which the snowboard is made will ultimately say its word on the price tag; wood is usually the best choice as it is durable and stable but there are many other choices available out there to choose from and it you only you who will decide which one is best suited for you.

Helpful Tip

Before you invest in a snowboard try renting different types and experience, which one suits you best, you will find great differences between them from sizes to material. Designs too are available to match your personality and express yourself, the more colorful your snowboard the more visible you will be on the slopes when performing your stunts.

Snowboards just like surfboards are meant to be one like the rider therefore, take your time when picking yours, it will be your only companion when flying on the snowed slopes so, you need to be able to control it, maneuver it in order to take you and perform as you desire.

A wealth of information about this snowboarding can be found through a number of locations:

1) The Internet - A favorite search engine
2) The Library - Don’t forget about free books!
3) A Bookstore - Again, books are full of useful information.
4) A Snowboarding Shop - Ask the workers, look at the supplies, read their books
5) Ask the people in your neighborhood
